Moola for Amanzi competition

2011-04-22

In March, the World Water Week has been held in Cape Town. The “Moola for Amanzi” competition was one of the activities which was organized. At this competition participants had to send in their best ideas for the South African Water sector. Food and Trees for Africa represented our project during this competition and was selected together with four other ideas/projects to present the project at the main stage.

The projects and ideas were presented to UN delegates, NWP and WISA members, His Royal Highness Willem Alexander Prince of Orange and the Deputy Minister: Department of Water Affairs. The presentations were judged by a professional jury of independent experts. After the presentations, the jury had to decide which ideas were the best and most innovative. With all the great ideas, it seemed that choosing the best and most innovative ideas was a tough decission.

We are very pleased to say that the project of Food and Trees for Africa ended up taking the second place, winning an amount of 7000 Euro. The publicity which comes with this great honor might be even more important. The visitors, local and international press showed great interest in all of the ideas. It will give this beautiful project a great boost in spreading the ideas to the rest of the world.
